A PANORAMA OF MOSAIC MASTERPIECES OF VARIOUS STYLES AND TECHNIQUES BY MAGDALENE THEOCHARIS
|
It was mainly in the Mediterranean that “painting on stone” according to Pliny, and “painting of eternity” according to Ghirlandajo was born and developed. So do I believe. My first introduction to mosaic art was as a child of 12 years, being taught about mosaic technique during Byzantine times by high school teacher of Fine Arts, Mrs. Zachari. Since then, my love for this monumental form of art is leading me with patience, persistence and dedication to be creative.

THESE DECORATIVE MOSAIC PLATES ARE INSPIRATIONS THAT REFLECT THE RICHNESS OF MOSAIC TECHNIQUE SINCE VARIOUS MATERIALS AND STYLES WERE USED TO CREATE ANOTHER DIMENSION AND ATMOSPHERE IN EVERY WORK SEPARATELY.

One of the ancients...
Great are your artworks. You indeed are equal to ancient masters. As the masters used to do you contribute to giving mosaic art its real microcosmic function and dimension. Mosaic art is supposed to change the space it occupies into another world that takes the beholder into another realm, and what you create can always take the beholder to a new realm. Your works inspire those who are sincere about genuine mosaic art, for your are yourself a genuine mosaicist who gives blood in order to catch the spirit. Congratulations.
