Mayan Passage is a large work completed with a National Endowment for the Arts Subgrant through the Orangeburg County Fine Arts Center. It was a featured work in the first national exhibition of mosaic art in the United States at the I.P. Stanback Museum at South Carolina State University. The mosaic is made with ceramic,
glass smalti, and fused glass. "Mayan Passage" is so named to reflect my interests in the Mayan concept of the afterlife and the use of mosaic masks in facilitating passage into the spirit realm.
